The good thing about getting older is it entitles you (actually I entitle myself to it) to say things like ‘that’s the best thing I’ve seen in MY WHOLE LIFE. The other day I was talking with some of my students about their current TV schedule and we compared series from the past with current ones (in order to see different communication and selling styles). This made me think about my favorite series of all time…(might be edited later on). Before starting one short remark: It was awesome to listen to all those old themes again. Should do this more often! But now, let’s start with number 11.
11.) CHiPS
Sometimes it’s just enough to have big white teeth and nice dark hair…Nevertheless the ‘action’ was quite nice for kids those times and man…motorbikes! Still it took some time to figure out why they call a TV series like a potato snack…
10.) Highway Man
Actually there are good chances that this is one of the worst tv series ever made. Bad acting, cheap special effects and a plot that sucks big time. Nevertheless I was addicted to this series for about 1 year or so (did it last that long?) and thought having such a truck would be just AWESOME!
9.) Sledge Hammer
best. cop. ever. susie!
Trust me, I know what I’m doing!
8.) Baywatch
When I started to watch Baywatch I really did it because of the ‘story’. When I was a kid I loved to watch a series that took place at the beach and that showed some ‘everyday’ heroes with ‘normal’ problems. When I became older I watched it for different reasons of course. But that’s the charme of Baywatch…something for everyone. The Hoff simply knew how to roll.
7.) Airwolf
A super helicopter and a great intro theme that outweighed Jan Michael Vincent’s acting skills. That’s all you need to know. I even had a mini Airwolf model.
6.) The Fall Guy
Colt Seavers! The fall guy as crime solving hero, a funny and clumsy sidekick, a hot blonde and a cool pick up car. Stuff for little boys’ dreams.
5.) Knight Rider
The Hoff. The KITT. The awesome series.
Knight Rider, a shadowy flight into the dangerous world of a man who does not exist. Michael Knight, a young loner on a crusade to champion the cause of the innocent, the helpless, the powerless, in a world of criminals who operate above the law.
4.) Magnum P.I.
Do I really need to say something about Magnum?
3.) The Dukes of Hazard
Great fun, great punch lines, great girl, great narrator and a flying General Lee (the stock car!). The boys always doing something good, solving crimes and fighting the stupid police chief.
2.) Mac Gyver
Swiss Knife + Chewing gum + Chemistry for dummies = AMAZING series. Swiss Knife beats extra terrestrial fire weapon easily!
1.) A-Team
In 1972 a crack commando unit was sent to prison by a military court for a crime they didn’t commit. These men promptly escaped from a maximum security stockade to the Los Angeles underground. Today, still wanted by the government, they survive as soldiers of fortune. If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find them, maybe you can hire… The A-Team.
I love it when a plan comes together!
